Automation facilitate the reduction of manual labor. Subitems give your board a deeper structure. Now you can construct the ideal workflow by combining select automation with subitems!   🎉 

How to create subitems

To use subitem automations, you must first add subitems to your board. You can construct subitems from the following places:

  1.  Add them from the center of the column:

2. Right-click the item’s title:

3. Utilize the drop-down menu for this item:

As soon as you add a subitem, a subitem column will be created that displays the number of subitems you’ve created.

How to add an automation

Before you can add an automation to your board, you must visit the automation store. Click “Automate” at the top of your board to access the store.

There, you will be able to choose from our various recipes and configure the workflow-supporting automation. Visit the Automation Center’s Subitems section for subitem-specific recipes:

There are three options in this category. The first two are workflow-applicable formulas that are pre-made. The third alternative is to develop your own automation.

Additionally, you can determine whether an automation recipe supports subitems by visiting the 

Automation Center and searching for the “Supports subitems” label:

Custom recipes

You can use components in custom formulas! The custom recipe constructor allows for the creation of subitems:

This action, “create sub-item” is presently the only action involving subitems. To use “create a sub-item” as one of your actions, you must first construct the subitem column on the board.

Subitems are supported for all triggers except for the following:

  • When an item is produced
  • When a revision is created
  • When an item is transferred to a group
  • When a piece moves onto the board
