You may have wondered, “How many items can a board hold?” This is an excellent topic! In order to maintain our superior board performance, we maintain a limit of 1,000 items per board for our free plan, whereas our Business plan permits 10,000 items.

In this article, we will learn more about the reasons behind this limit, as well as some tips and tricks to employ if your board reaches these limits. Let’s get into it!

Why is there a limit on the number of items per board?

At Atmos, we endeavor to keep our board performance as swift and seamless as possible so that teams can work to their full potential. For this to occur, it is necessary to limit the number of items on each board. Therefore, the limit is as follows:

What happens when the limit is reached?

If you achieve your board’s item limit, a banner will appear at the top of your board stating that you’ve reached your limit. You will no longer be able to add additional items to the board until some have been removed.

No need to stress if your board reaches the maximum capacity! Below, we will discuss methods for removing items from your board so that you are back within the limit in no time.

Limiting items from your board

To reduce the number of items on your board, you can:

  1. Delete items;
  2. Archive items; or
  3. Transfer items to other boards.

Let’s explore each solution!

  • Deleting items

To remove an item from your board, simply check the box to its left and click “Delete,” as shown below.

Note: You can retrieve deleted items from the recycle bin for up to 30 days after deletion.

  • Archiving items

If you believe you may need to return an item on board in the future, you may wish to archive it instead! To archive an item, select and click “Archive” from the bottom pane.

Your archived items will always be ready for restoration!

Tip: Use Batch Actions to delete and archive with ease.

That’s all for the moment! We trust this article has provided you with a better understanding of why we have an item limit and how you can keep your board within this limit.
