How to add the automation
To add the relevant item creation recipe to your workflow, you must first access our automation store, which is located at the top of your board:
There, you’ll be able to select from our various templates and configure the item creation automation that best supports your workflow:
Choose your favored recipe, and you’re finished!
What’s mapping? Here, you can set column values for newly-created items.
The column fields specified in the mapping are static for the “Every time period, create an item” recipe. That is, the values you enter into a mapped column will be reflected for each auto-created item. In our example, each newly-created item will have the status “Working on it.”
So let’s plunge into an example!
Item creation example
When a new item is added to this group, generate an update.
Use Case: A transport team has added a list of tasks for each location to the board. The automation recipe enables the team to associate an update with a location item automatically.

It is possible to append the column values of an item to the update. Select the cyan “Supported Fields” option to add the column value to the update.
Currently, the following column types are not supported in the “update” field of automation:
- Automatic Number
- Item Connection
Item Creation Recipe Examples
- Each time period, create an item
- When a new item is created, assign a team as an assignee
- When a new item is created, assign someone as an assignee
- When an item is created, set the due date to the creation date plus some days
- When an item is created, notify someone
