Column templates

Would you like to apply similar column structures to other workflows and processes? Perhaps you have already created custom labels for a Status Column that you would like to reuse? With column templates, you can easily save and reuse your customized columns with just a few clicks!

Follow the steps below to quickly personalize and design your preferred columns.

Note: Only users subscribed to the Enterprise plan have access to column templates.

Customize a column

Add any column type you want to template onto your board and customize the column as you wish.

As an illustration, in the Status Column shown below, we have modified the name to “Priority” and included various colored labels to signify the priority level of a task/item.

Now, if we shift our attention to another column type, such as the Numbers Column, you can personalize the unit of the numbers shown, as depicted below.

You can save any unique adjustments you make to a column like this by templating the column!

Saving a Template

It’s time to save your column as a template after you’ve customized it to your heart’s content! To achieve this, choose “Save as a template” from the “Settings” item in the column menu.

Give your template a name and a description. To finish this process, don’t forget to click “Save column as a template”!

Note: If you have column permissions enabled, they will not carry over in a templated column.

Use the templated column in your workflow!

Once you’ve saved a column as a template, you can access the Column Center to find and add it to any board. To add the desired template column, search for it in the “Account Column Templates” section or scroll down to locate it.

Note: The templated column created within a closed workspace will only be visible to the members in the Column Center.

You can make a template out of your desired customizable columns in no time and employ it in any workflow by following three easy steps.

If you have any questions, you can contact us anytime; we’ll be glad to help.

Note: If the templated column is created within a Private board, only the board members can see it in the Column Center, while it remains invisible to outsiders.
